About

YaLos is a contemporary artist dedicated to the revival of traditional engraving aesthetics through modern artistic interpretation. Working at the intersection of mythology, nature, and classical symbolism, Yalos creates compositions inspired by centuries-old gravure and woodcut traditions while exploring timeless themes that connect ancient stories with the present.

Each artwork begins as a carefully designed composition built around strong carved linework, balanced negative space, and engraving-style textures. Influenced by historical European engravings and the disciplined visual language of classical printmaking, Yalos focuses on clarity of form and expressive line, allowing each image to carry both narrative depth and visual strength.

The works created in the studio are conceived as original artistic gravures, not mass-produced illustrations. Every piece is developed with the intention of becoming a timeless visual artifact, echoing the spirit of traditional printmaking while embracing contemporary artistic freedom.

Mythological figures, symbolic creatures, and elements of nature appear frequently throughout the collection, reflecting a fascination with the archetypal imagery that has shaped artistic traditions across cultures. Through these subjects, Yalos explores themes of power, transformation, guardianship, and the relationship between humanity and the natural world.

Today the works of Yalos are collected by enthusiasts of engraving, mythology, and symbolic art who appreciate hand-crafted aesthetics, bold ink composition, and the enduring beauty of classical visual storytelling.

My Journey

My journey began with a fascination for the quiet, physical ritual of printmaking—the resistance of the surface, the weight of ink, the moment an image reveals itself through pressure. I was drawn to the discipline of traditional techniques, where every mark is intentional and irreversible. Over time, a question emerged: how could this deeply tactile practice evolve without losing its essence?

That question led me into the world of digital tools—not as a replacement, but as an extension of the hand. Through experimentation, I began to construct images digitally and translate them into 3D-printed matrices, discovering a new way to shape form, depth, and structure. Yet the final act remains unchanged: each print is still inked and pulled by hand, carrying the same unpredictability and presence that first drew me to the medium.

Today, my work lives within the space often described as Post-digital printmaking—a place where technology and tradition are not in opposition, but in dialogue. It is in this balance that I continue to explore what a print can be, and what it can hold.
